Our Story
The love story of Milena and Mitch is an important reminder of how life’s unexpected twists can lead to its most beautiful chapters. Their tale begins with two separate journeys, each filled with its own dreams and disappointments, converging into a shared path of love and understanding.
Milena’s journey to the United States was born from a setback. After failing the IELTS exam, a crucial step towards her goal of achieving a master’s degree in London, she
found herself losing the scholarship she had worked so hard to obtain. This failure, however, opened a door she had never considered. Unlike many of her Colombian peers, Milena had never aspired to go to the United States, but life’s redirection led her there. After a few years in Australia learning English and a return to Colombia, she sought to enhance her English even further and experience a new culture, not realizing this decision would change her life.
In parallel, Mitch, who had spent five years in San Francisco, was planning a move back to Los Angeles with his long-time friend and business partner. This return to his roots in April 2021 set the stage for a fateful encounter. Mitch, excited to move back to his hometown, was unaware that his path was about to intersect with Milena’s in the most serendipitous way. Their meeting was unassuming at first. Mitch saw Milena as a fleeting connection, and Milena viewed Mitch as a language practice partner and a source of enjoyment. However, as they spent time together, a deeper connection blossomed. They discovered shared humor, mutual
interests, and a similar outlook on life. Their time together revealed a remarkable synchrony in perspectives and way of thinking.
Over two years, their relationship deepened, and they realized they wanted to spend their lives together. Their story is a testament to the power of shared values and mutual understanding. Coming from different backgrounds and nationalities, Milena and Mitch found common ground in their perspectives and ways of seeing the world.
